Copy of broadside advertisement for Rufus Porter & Co.'s aerial locomotive titled "The Best Route to the California Gold! The Aerial Locomotive." Original advertisement created before 1849 and selling $50 tickets (all-inclusive) for a seven-day, round-trip from New York to California beginning on April 1, 1849. Directed primarily toward gold miners. Voyage never occurred and Porter's aerial locomotive was never successful. Broadside on wooden board and under clear varnish. Unknown date of creation. |
